Not a Homeless Shelter...
Dec 21st, 2018
……but a healing shelter. Colleen is on the Leadership Team at Water Street Mission. Some call it a homeless shelter. It is that - but it’s a lot more. She came to Water Street to help its free clinic get through the Affordable Care Act, then back to her consulting practice; at least that’s what she thought at the time. God had other plans. Seven years later her role has expanded exponentially. Her time there has been a life changing experience for…
And After All This?
Dec 14th, 2018
“Then as I looked, I saw a door standing open in heaven, and the same voice I had heard before spoke to me like a trumpet blast. The voice said, “Come up here, and I will show you what must happen after this.”2 And instantly I was in the Spirit,[a] and I saw a throne in heaven and someone sitting on it. 3 The one sitting on the throne was as brilliant as gemstones—like jasper and carnelian. And the glow of an emerald circled his throne like a.…

Living the In-Between Life – The Dash on Our Tombstone
Dec 7th, 2018
That dash on our tombstone - you know, the one that represents the life we lived between our start date and our end date? What we do during that time has eternal implications. Mark Twain put it so aptly. “The two most important days in your life are the day you are born and the day you find out why.” The “why” has everything to do with the legacy we leave and the influence of our dash. When I think back on my earlier days it feels like so much time…
On the Road to Hell

I just completed the reading of a fiction novel by Joel Rosenberg entitled The Third Target. The main character in the story is J.B. Collins. A New York Times award-winning columnist covering the Middle East. Rosenberg’s writing has a distinct and prophetic tone to it. As J.B. is considering his fate and the after-life, his brother - a born-again Christian - challenged him to go deeper into the meaning of his existence and what might actually happen after death. Late…
Beauty in the Darkness
Nov 26th, 2018
Did you know that there are at least 10 beautiful flowers that only bloom at night? One of those is the Red flare tropical water lily. I continue to be amazed and enamored by God’s creation. We can learn so much through nature. I was particularly struck by the oddity of flowers blooming at night. My innate instinct was to believe the Sun and daylight produce the most vibrant of colors, in most every living thing. Ah, but therein lies the dichotomy. Is it possible that…

Echoes of the Garden in Our Very Souls - An Excerpt from the Book - Embracing Brokenness
Nov 15th, 2018
There are many places in our lives that we have a yearning--a mysterious hunger for something we may not consciously recognize. Is it possible that our unconscious remembers what it was like to walk and talk with God in the Garden of Eden? Or maybe even more absurd--could we remember our very own spiritual creation-- the one that takes place "before I placed you in your mothers’ womb?" (Jer 1:5) Have you ever closed your eyes for a few moments and asked God…
Be Ok With Today
Nov 9th, 2018
Did you ever experience a moment when God confirms a message He’s communicating, or a thought He wants you to consider, by having it show up in multiple places? For me, it usually happens in 3's. For example, a message at church, a scripture you read and a phone call from a friend. It’s just downright uncanny. Well – No - It’s God. This rich phenomenon happened to me this past week. The message was simple but oh so profound. I heard it as sure…
