Beauty in the Darkness
Did you know that there are at least 10 beautiful flowers that only bloom at night? One of those is the Red flare tropical water lily. I continue to be amazed and enamored by God’s creation. We can learn so much through nature. I was particularly struck by the oddity of flowers blooming at night. My innate instinct was to believe the Sun and daylight produce the most vibrant of colors, in most every living thing. Ah, but therein lies the dichotomy. Is it possible that…

Echoes of the Garden in Our Very Souls - An Excerpt from the Book - Embracing Brokenness
There are many places in our lives that we have a yearning--a mysterious hunger for something we may not consciously recognize. Is it possible that our unconscious remembers what it was like to walk and talk with God in the Garden of Eden? Or maybe even more absurd--could we remember our very own spiritual creation-- the one that takes place "before I placed you in your mothers’ womb?" (Jer 1:5) Have you ever closed your eyes for a few moments and asked God…

Be Ok With Today
Did you ever experience a moment when God confirms a message He’s communicating, or a thought He wants you to consider, by having it show up in multiple places? For me, it usually happens in 3's. For example, a message at church, a scripture you read and a phone call from a friend. It’s just downright uncanny. Well – No - It’s God. This rich phenomenon happened to me this past week. The message was simple but oh so profound. I heard it as sure…

We Become What We Worship
I read a recent article by Jonathon Tjarks (a staff writer at The Ringer, where he covers professional basketball) talking about his journey to Christ after a shakeup with the supernatural. He considered God intellectually but had not given much thought to the supernatural. He was at an EDM concert, rolling in "ecstasy" when he stopped and saw the act of worship that was happening all around him. “As I watched the audience dance under the watchful eye…

Freedom From My Mistakes
“To truly obtain freedom from our mistakes, we must own them. These mistakes must be dragged, kicking and screaming, to the forefront of our consciousness and expelled into the clear air. Mistakes can take many forms, ranging from the smallest error to the most unconscionable failure. In two of the most important segments of our lives -- work and relationships --, a single mistake is sometimes all it takes to wind up on the scrap heap of failure.” Dr. Henry…

Freedom For All - An Excerpt from the Book - Embracing Brokenness
Have you ever asked yourself the question, how did I get here? To this place in my life where things just don’t add up? If I’m a devoted Christ-follower doing the best I can, why does it feel like something is terribly wrong with me or the world around me? Have you ever had feelings of not measuring up or being good enough, even questioning what you were created for? Questions like this challenge every one of us. Life wounds us. From an early age every,…

Find God Where He Lives - An Excerpt from "Love & War" - John & Stasi Eldredge
Now—to find God, I have to look where God is. This might help folks who report that God “seems distant,” or as a friend recently commented (with a touch of cynicism), “He doesn’t seem to come around much.” If I want to find a hawk I look up in the sky, near the mountains where the thermals create an updraft. If I want to find our dog I simply have to find Stasi—he is usually curled up at her feet. Those who would find God must look…

A Heart Shaped Pebble - With A Heart Shaped Message
This was a tough week. . . Steve and I were on vacation at the Jersey shore. It was a getaway planned for some time but needed even more following the death of my Father the week before. Add to that, the third anniversary of a time where I had mourned the death of four significant people in my life - including my first husband. Re-living the recent past makes this time of year extremely difficult. Adding my Father’s passing to the list had overwhelmed me with grief.…

The Surprising Truth About Waiting Patiently For Just About Anything
God has a way of reminding us that we're not alone. Colleen saw this on my personal LinkedIn page from a year ago. Guess I was struggling with similar questions. Disappointed With God
I had a few choice words to share with God this morning. As if He didn’t already know what I was thinking! Nothing is adding up lately. 2016 was an amazing year. I got married to a beautiful woman, both inside and out. I witnessed God move in ways I didn’t realize were possible - making leaps and bounds in my healing journey. I had a new career trajectory highlighted by the launch of an international food export business that showed tremendous promise. There was…
